We’re hiring: Wellbeing Coordinator (Urdu and Mirpuri speaking)

We are seeking a compassionate and multilingual Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team! In this role, you will use your language skills (Urdu and Mirpuri) to deliver exceptional mental health support to a diverse client group.
What will I be doing?
- Provide emotional support and active listening to individuals with mental health conditions, utilising your language skills to ensure clear communication.
- Facilitate and participate in therapeutic activities and group sessions, potentially translating materials or acting as a language bridge for non-English speakers.
- Assist clients in developing and maintaining coping mechanisms for managing their symptoms, with consideration for cultural background, age, and disability.
- Collaborate with the mental health team to develop individualised action plans that are culturally sensitive.
- Educate clients and their families (if needed) about mental health conditions, using clear and culturally appropriate language.
- Advocate for clients’ rights and promote their social inclusion within the community, considering cultural background.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients to foster trust and open communication.
- Promoting the service offer to individuals and professionals to encourage new referrals from communities.
- Document interventions and observations accurately, adhering to confidentiality guidelines and record-keeping policy.
- Travel around Dudley providing support in service user’s homes and community settings.
Practical Considerations:
Place of Work: 53 Churchfield Street, Dudley, DY2 8QN
Hours: 18 hours per week
Pay: £12 per hour
Contract: 6 month fixed term (with the potential to extend)
Working Pattern: Flexible (two weekdays of 6 hours, 1 weekend day of 6 hours)
What knowledge and experience will I need?
Qualifications:
- Diploma or relevant training to mental health care / support,.(Desirable)
- Mental Health First Aid training. (Desirable)
Experience:
- Experience working with communities or in the voluntary sector (Essential)
- Experience supporting individuals with their mental wellbeing (Essential)
- Experience facilitating group sessions (Essential)
Knowledge:
- Fluent in English and at least one other language relevant to our client base (Urdu, Mirpuri, & relevant Pakistani dialects) (Essential)
- Cultural competency and a willingness to learn about diverse cultural backgrounds. (Essential)
- Understanding of the south-Asian communities living in Dudley. (Essential)
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. (Essential)
- Ability to actively listen and build rapport. (Essential)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team. (Essential)
- Able to collaborate with healthcare professionals and an understanding of local statutory systems. (Essential)

What is the project/organisation?
We are a community interest company based in the West Midlands. We develop and deliver projects around mindset development, financial literacy, and employability. We listen to communities and then build experiences around them. This includes mental health and wellbeing services, enterprise and business development programmes, community engagement, research and community insights, and bid writing and development.
We work with local authorities, statutory services, housing associations, education settings, non-profit organisations, and more to bring tailored programmes for defined communities.
This role is for our Dudley Support Circles project, providing low-level mental health support for adults in Dudley.
Our impact includes:
- Designed a mental health pathway in the West Midlands to support 500+ people with free person-centred therapy (in partnership with Home Office & Violence Reduction Teams)
- Provided mental wellbeing support to 10,000 households in partnership with housing associations.
- Winner of ‘Outstanding Service Provider 2023’ for Black Country Impact Programme
- Partnership with local authority to support Dudley’s low-level mental health service to support individuals in self-management of mental ill-health and improve wellbeing
- Through community-led research, our insights have influenced policymakers within the NHS, West Midlands Police, Police and Crime Commissioner, Violence Reduction Partnership, Birmingham City Council, Walsall Council, and more.
