Opportunity: Sports Activity Facilitator (Freelance)

We’re looking for a committed and passionate individual to facilitate community-based sporting activities in Dudley and Walsall. 

What will I be doing?

  • Attend the schedule of activities (Football, Badminton, Basketball, low impact), set up equipment, and ensure the space is ready for the activity. 
  • Collect participant’s attendance data by ensuring they complete the referral form and attendance form.
  • Provide light-level coaching and guidance to improve health and fitness to a diverse client base – including neurodivergent individuals. 
  • Build professional relationships with participants by asking about their wellbeing, signposting to another service that could help them further, and encouraging their ongoing engagement with the programme.
  • Facilitate a safe and respectful environment where all participants feel empowered to engage in the activities.
  • Maintain good health and safety practices. 
  • Adhere to company safeguarding and data protection policies.
  • Pack down equipment and ensure the venue is left clean and tidy. 
  • Report the outcome of activities to the Project Manager. 

Practical Considerations: 


Place of Work: Dudley and Walsall
Hours: 6-8 hours per week
Pay: £15-£18 per hour (travel expenses covered)
Contract: Freelance
Working Pattern: Flexible (evenings)

 

What knowledge and experience will I need?

Experience:

  • Experience in coaching or sports facilitation. (Essential)
  • Experience supporting individuals with their mental well-being. (Desirable) 
  • Experience working with communities. (Essential)
  • Experience with health and safety procedures. (Essential)
  • Experience handling and collecting data. (Essential)

Skills:

What is the project / organisation?

We are a community interest company based in the West Midlands. We develop and deliver projects around mindset development, financial literacy, and employability. We listen to communities and then build experiences around them. This includes mental health and wellbeing services, enterprise and business development programmes, community engagement, research and community insights, and bid writing and development. 

We work with local authorities, statutory services, housing associations, education settings, non-profit organisations, and more to bring tailored programmes for defined communities.

Our impact includes: 

  • Designed a mental health pathway in the West Midlands to support 500+ people with free person-centred therapy (in partnership with Home Office & Violence Reduction Teams)
  • Provided mental wellbeing support to 10,000 households in partnership with housing associations.
  • Winner of ‘Outstanding Service Provider 2023’ for Black Country Impact Programme
  • Partnership with local authority to support Dudley’s low-level mental health service to support individuals in self-management of mental ill-health and improve wellbeing 
  • Through community-led research, our insights have influenced policymakers within the NHS, West Midlands Police, Police and Crime Commissioner, Violence Reduction Partnership, Birmingham City Council, Walsall Council, and more.
