Programme Coordinator (Youth Assembly) for Violence Reduction Unit
Overview:
Aspire4u is working with West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to support the coordination of their youth assembly – a group of young people using their voice to help reduce youth crime and violence.
We are looking for a committed individual who is keen to deliver impactful change in the region to join our team as a Project Coordinator for this programme.
This role is suited to someone who is passionate about violence reduction, youth engagement, and is able to organise and inspire. We are open to applications from young adults or those who can identify deeply with youth culture.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinating day-to-day activities and communications for the Youth Assembly
- Be the first point of contact for Youth Assembly Members and build trusting relationships with them
- Planning agendas and points of interest for the group ahead of meetings / activities
- Planning ahead and assessing risks at various levels of the project
- Work with young people to organise availability, encourage attendance, and ensure retention among members
- Take notes/minutes during meetings and feeding back to VRU and Aspire4u team members
- Working young people with complex needs and lived experience of youth violence and offending
- Actively engaging in written conversations, as well as phone calling and video meetings, with various young people and stakeholders
- Contributing to reports and delivering presentations
- Follow safeguarding policies and report any concerns to ensure the young people’s welfare
Practical Considerations:
- Full time – 40 hours p/w
- 6 month contract (with possibility to extend)
- 3 month probationary period
- Flexible/hybrid working between office and at home.
- Travelling between regions of the West Midlands
Salary rate:
- 20-24K Per Annum (Pro Rata) (depending on experience)

The Violence Reduction Unit is a partnership organisation which aims to reduce violence and crime in the West Midlands through preventative measures. It works with partners in public health, criminal justice, sports, education, non-profit, and the police with the goal of taking on a collaborative approach in reducing violence.
The Violence Reduction Unit believes that causes of violence are complex and multi-layered, so tackling the root cause is not simple. Therefore, there is an understanding that approaching the issue will take time and cooperation between organisations. From this, a safer world for the next generation is possible.
